Just Defense™ Practical

Advanced class delving into shooting from cover, moving, non-traditional shooting position and basic tactics

This class is an advanced class delving into shooting from cover, shooting and moving, shooting from non-traditional shooting position and basic tactics. A qualification course incorporating many of these skills is required to pass the course. This is also a practical class with shooting scenarios familiar to competition shooters. However, scenarios are shorter and more directly self-defense based. There are no points for going “fast” or making tactically unsound decisions. Scenarios may require multiple shots to “stop” a threat or may require not shooting at all. “Threat targets” will not always be obvious, and “no shoot” bystanders will be more plentiful and grouped closer to threats. The primary goal is to get the student out of the “range mindset” and into the thinking mindset for operating a firearm in the streets. The goal is to provide students with an opportunity to make decisions under a degree of stress they likely have not experienced while handling a firearm but may experience while in a parking lot, shopping center, convenience store, or any of the myriad of settings self-defense is required.

The pre-requisite for this class is successfully completing Just Defense – Concealed Fundamentals or successfully completing a similar class from another school. Exceptions for outside training are made on a case-by-case basis. This is a concealed carry class, so you will be operating from concealment. You need suitable equipment (and preferably your daily carry equipment). Strong side leather or Kydex IWB/OWB holster and at least one dual magazine carrier. Appendix holsters are allowed. No competition holsters. No Serpa holsters. Rounds count is a minimum of 600.

This is an 8-hour class and starts at 8 AM. There will be mandatory regular, short hydration breaks regardless of temperature and humidity. A break for lunch is mandatory in order for students to recharge.  The class conceivably runs 10 hours total.
